Sometimes what would happen would be that WICD would refuse to connect to anything, even a wired connection, and all form of networking would. be disabled. When I first got it I was afraid of wireless, because I never debt with it yet. When I got to Mandriva I was shocked to see wireless worked out of the box. What confused me more is that my wired connection did the same. And like you said your not giving up on Arch, your just keeping it on the backburner. I suggest if your harddrive is big enough to try and install both.
